Dental Cleanings
Professional dental cleaning is the removal of dental plaque, in order to prevent cavities, gingivitis, and periodontitis. Cleanings are an important  part of a complete program of oral hygiene. Our office uses ultrasonics for cleaning patients’ teeth. It is a power washer for your mouth! The ultrasonic cleaner is gentle and destroys the bacteria that live between the gum and the tooth. Our hygienists can help you establish a dental hygiene routine that will keep your mouth healthy.

Dental fillings are used to repair damage to the structure of a tooth or teeth. Structural damage can be caused as a result of tooth decay, wear or trauma. After the removal of a problematic tooth structure, the tooth is restored with one of several filling materials:  amalgam, composite resin (white filling material) or porcelain. Each filling material has its advantages and disadvantages. Dr. Henke will work with you to determine which material is appropriate for you.

Crowns

A dental crown is used if the tooth is severely decayed, chipped, or broken. Dental crowns can be made of gold metals, silver metals, porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped.

Dental bridges are one option for replacing missing teeth. Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap -- these two or more anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth -- and a false tooth/teeth in between. Dental bridges are tried and true solutions for replacing missing teeth.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available -- complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth so there should be only a small noticeable change in appearance. In fact, dentures may even improve your smile and fill out your facial appearance.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or all of the teeth. The goal of teeth replacement is to restore function as well as esthetics. The benefit of using implants is that they don't rely on neighboring teeth for support and they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth.
Implants

Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. A very common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired. Other reasons for tooth extraction include a crowded mouth and infection.

Extractions

There are many teeth whitening systems and products including whitening toothpastes, over-the-counter gels, rinses, strips, trays, and whitening products obtained from a dentist.

Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best . Dr. Henke will will work with you to find if teeth whitening is right for you.
